63 State Universities Ready to Hold SNMPTN 2014

Registration for the National Entrance Test for State University (SNMPTN) will be opened in February 17, 2014.

Chairman of SNMPTN Ganjar Kurnia said that one of the requirements to participate in SNMPTN is that schools must input their data through the School and Student Database (PDSS) which records schools’ performance and academic achievements of students.

SNMPTN registration can be made through online system.

200 Indonesian Books Translated

Some 200 Indonesian books will be translated into English and German to be brought to the Frankfurt Bookfair 2015, the world’s largest bookfair, in which Indonesia will be the honorable guests.

Some 7,000 institutions including publishers from 100 countries will take part in the bookfair which will be held October 2015. Some 9,000 media will cover the bookfair which is estimated to receive 280,000 visitor.

Non-FKIP Graduates Can Teach

The Government opens access for non-education graduates to be teachers as stipulated in Ministerial Decree 87/2013 on Education for Pre-Service Teachers (PPG), allowing graduates of other faculties, other than Faculty of Teacher Education within Universities (FKIP), to each at Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, Junior High Schools, and Senior High Schools.

A member of the Commission X of the House of Representatives of The Republic of Indonesia Herlini Amran said that the regulation was issued to address the problem of lack of teachers in remote areas.
However, non-education graduates interested in being teachers should first take psychological tests to find out their teaching skills.
