The Government opens access for non-education graduates to be
teachers as stipulated in Ministerial Decree 87/2013 on Education for
Pre-Service Teachers (PPG), allowing graduates of other faculties, other
than Faculty of Teacher Education within Universities (FKIP), to each
at Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, Junior High Schools, and Senior
High Schools.
A member of the Commission X of the House of Representatives of The
Republic of Indonesia Herlini Amran said that the regulation was issued
to address the problem of lack of teachers in remote areas.
However, non-education graduates interested in being teachers should
first take psychological tests to find out their teaching skills.
